Washing your Yukata & Obi

Washing a Yukata

Washing Machine
* Fold your yukata and put it in a mesh bag.
* Use cool water only. Do not use hot water.
* Use gentle soap or detergent in a gentle cycle.
* No softener needed.
* Do not use bleach.
* Avoid putting in a dryer.

Hand Wash
* Fold your yukata and soak in large sink or tub.
* Use a pressing or pushing motion to wash your yukata gently.
* Use cool water only. Do not use hot water.
* Use gentle soap or detergent.
* No softener needed.
* Do not use bleach.
* Avoid putting in a dryer.

Ironing 
* Use Medium heat (Dry) with a extra layer of fabric in between the iron and yukata.
* If there are wrinkles, use steam.

Washing a Tsukuri Obi
Hand Wash
* Use "Surface Washing" method.
* Soak your obi and use a soft brush/ cloth/ towel to scrub gently.
* Use a gentle bar soap or even a small amount of baby shampoo in a bowl of water.
* Dip a clean cloth in your mixture and scrub away just as you would do on your own skin.
* Take another clean cloth and dampen it and wipe with clear water.
* Let it air dry.

Washing a Puchi Obi
Hand Wash
* Material is fragile and may run easily.
* Soak obi in large sink or tub.
* Use a pressing or pushing motion to wash your puchi obi gently
* Let it air dry.
